Sarasota attorney Dan Lobeck to be featured speaker
On Jan. 14, at 3 p.m., attorney Dan Lobeck of the Sarasota firm Lobeck & Hanson will be the featured speaker for the second Siesta Key Condominium Council meeting of the season, which will be held at Siesta Key Chapel.
The church is located at 4615 Gleason Ave. on the northern part of the island.
Lobeck will address 2019 actions of the Florida Legislature and other topics that affect condominium associations, including sprinkler system retrofits and engineered life safety systems;
assignment of insurance benefits to contractors; medical marijuana; tree removal; online notarization; website litigation threats; compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); director term limits; Airbnb and other web-based vacation rentals; electric vehicle charging stations; and drones, a news release says.
Lobeck also will provide a preview of condominium-related issues expected to be considered by the 2020 Legislature, the release notes. Among those, the release continues, are association standing in property tax challenges and end of division arbitration.
Further, the meeting will include updates on the efforts of Save Our Siesta Sand 2 (SOSS2) to prevent the dredging of Big Sarasota Pass, a county consultant’s study regarding Siesta Key traffic, Gary Kompothecras’ hotel proposal for Old Stickney Point Road, and the status of the Siesta Promenade mixed-use development at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Stickney Point Road. Additionally, the winners of the 2019 Holiday Lighting Contest will be recognized.
The next SKCC meeting has been planned for Feb. 18, the release adds. That will focus on the issues related to transportation, law enforcement, fire service on the Key and parking, among other topics.
