The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating shooting deaths that occurred just before 9 p.m. on June 5 in the 1600 block of Stickney Point Road in Sarasota, the agency has reported.

Upon arrival, deputies found two persons with gunshot wounds inside a residence, a news release said. Members of the Sarasota County Fire Department, who had arrived first, pronounced both victims dead, the release added.

In an updated news release issued just after noon on June 6, the Sheriff’s Office said, “Deputies responded to the residence following a 911 call reporting a disturbance.” Inside, the release continued, deputies located Tesse Kofahl, 44, of Sarasota, and Robert Joseph Harrison Jr., 57, also of Sarasota, “both deceased with apparent gunshot wounds.”

Records maintained by the Sarasota County Property Appraiser’s Office show that Kofahl was the owner of a unit in the Castel Del Mare condominium complex, which stands at 1644 Stickney Point Road. She bought the condo for $210,000 on June 2, 2021, the records note.

The Office of the Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller show that Kofahl also took out a mortgage of $168,000 when she purchased the unit. That document, dated June 4, 2021, identified her as a single woman.

“This case is being investigated as an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the public,” the Sheriff’s Office pointed out in the later news release.

The initial advisory, which was sent out via email just before midnight on June 5, noted that detectives with the Criminal Investigations Section were on the scene.

In reviewing an aerial map of the 1600 block of Stickney Point Road, The Sarasota News Leader found that the site is just east of The Boatyard property that Chris Brown of Osprey, who owns a number of businesses in Siesta Key Village, purchased in early February. The condominiums also are east of the Stickney Point Road drawbridge.
