County events to take place at 6 p.m.

Couples are being invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day “with a coastal commitment” during the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department’s annual Say “I Do” Again vow renewal ceremony, on either Siesta Beach or Nokomis Beach.
Each Feb. 14 event will take place at 6 p.m., a news release says. Siesta Public Beach stands at 948 Beach Road, while Nokomis Beach is located at 100 Casey Key Road.
The pre-registration fee is $20 per couple; persons may pre-register until Feb. 8, either online or by calling 941-861-PARK (7275), the release points out.
Each registered couple will receive a renewal certificate, a gift and a flower, the release adds. Day-of registration, at the event, will open at 4:30 p.m., the release continues. The fee will be $30 per couple, and only credit cards will be accepted.
For more than 35 years, this Valentine’s Day non-denominational vow renewal ceremony “has attracted locals and tourists alike,” the release says. This year, Judge Stephen Walker will officiate on Siesta Beach, while Judge Shannon Hankin will preside at Nokomis Beach, the release notes.
“In addition to the group vow renewal ceremony,” the release points out, “the event will feature music, light refreshments and photo opportunities.”
“The upcoming Say ‘I Do’ Again renewal event at Siesta and Nokomis beaches is a unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day,” said Destiny Gonzalez, Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources events and programming supervisor, in the release. “We’re excited to watch lovebirds renew their vows on two of the most beautiful beaches.”
