Electricity will have to be shut off for fire pump replacement

On Saturday, Jan. 17, Selby Public Library, which stands at 1331 First St. in downtown Sarasota, will be closed for repairs, county staff announced on Jan. 15.
As the facility’s fire pump must be replaced, the electricity will have to be shut off, a news release explains.
“The library will resume normal operations on Tuesday, Jan. 20,” the release says.
As a reminder, all Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources Department branches and offices also will be closed on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the release points out. (See the related article in this issue.)
“Residents are encouraged to visit and enjoy the other libraries in the area on Saturday,” the release says. A list of locations and hours is available at www.sarasotacountylibraries.org.
