Preparation for making remarks during local government public hearings will be the focus of the April 14 meeting of the Council of Neighborhood Associations of Sarasota County (CONA), the nonprofit organization has announced.

“If you’ve ever attended a public hearing and felt unsure what to say or how to frame your concerns in a way that truly matters, this meeting is for you,” a CONA news release says. “You will leave better informed, more confident, and better equipped to advocate for your neighborhood,” it adds.

“This is a critical step in CONA’s mission to help neighborhoods navigate a complex system and ensure community voices are heard,” the release continues. “We strongly encourage neighborhood leaders — and anyone concerned about growth and development — to attend,” the release said.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Room A of Gulf Gate Library, which stands at 7112 Curtiss Ave. in Sarasota.

The featured speaker will be a former assistant Sarasota County attorney, Susan Schoettle-Gumm, the news release notes. She “is a prominent Sarasota-based attorney” who has more than 30 years of experience, the release continues. “She is known for her work in land use, environmental law, and growth management advocacy within Sarasota County,” the release points out.
