Kimble charged with DUI after numerous witnesses describe erratic driving

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has charged a 35-year-old Ohio woman with DUI in the aftermath of a late-March incident in which she nearly drove off a seawall located on Siesta Key’s Midnight Pass Road and then into the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), The Sarasota News Leader has learned.
Shanielle L. Kimble, of Toledo, Ohio, was arrested just after 8 p.m. on March 27 at 9393 Midnight Pass Road, the Probable Cause Affidavit says. The address is that of The Pointe, which Trulia describes as “a peaceful gated pet-friendly community offering boat docks, tennis and pickleball, heated lap pool, walking trail, BBQ grills, fishing [and] on-site management …”
After her arrest, the affidavit points out, a partial breath sample obtained by an intoxilizer found Kimble’s blood alcohol level to be 0.265, though the affidavit makes it clear that the sample was not reliable because of the breath volume. The legal limit for blood alcohol in Florida is 0.8.
Kimble “refused to provide further samples,” the report points out.
On March 28, 12th Judicial Circuit Court records show, she was released from jail on bond of $500. Her arraignment was scheduled for April 22.
The officer who wrote the narrative about the March 27 incident noted that deputies arrived at the Midnight Pass Road condominium complex after Dispatch had received numerous complaints about a vehicle that was being driven erratically. The first deputy on the scene observed Kimble “behind the wheel of the vehicle,” which was in the parking lot, “while it was still on and running.” She was the solitary person in the vehicle, the report added.
While the deputy was present, the report continued, “several witnesses came up to him” to tell him about observing the erratic driving.

When the deputy spoke to Kimble, the report said, she “struggled to pick up her head and maintain eye contact.” Moreover, the affidavit added, she “had a difficult time standing and maintaining balance on her own. When [she] spoke, her speech was severely slurred [and] her breath had the odor of an alcoholic beverage.”
The report also pointed out that her clothes were dirty; she was described as wearing a blue dress and white hat.
Furthermore, the affidavit noted, Kimball “smelt of urine and admitted to [having] also urinated on herself.”
When the deputy asked her “to participate in field sobriety exercises to dispel [his] fear that she was driving a motor vehicle under the influence,” the affidavit continued, she agreed to do so.
In participating in a “Walk and Turn” exercise, the deputy reported, Kimble kept losing her balance and “did not know her right foot from her left foot.” Further, the report said, “She then refused to perform the exercise.”
She “ultimately refused to complete any other exercise,” the affidavit pointed out.
