The Gulf Coast Community Foundation is accepting applications for its October 2022 Fall Gulf Coast Board Institute (GCBI), the nonprofit has announced.
The online application and overview for the program are available at https://www.gulfcoastcf.org/gulf-coast-board-institute, a news release notes. This program, which has been in high demand, as the release points out, “is delivered through Gulf Coast’s Invest in Incredible consultants to active nonprofit board members in the Gulf Coast region.” The deadline to apply for the governance training series for active nonprofit board members is Sunday, Aug. 21, the release adds.
“Good governance is the cornerstone for any high-performing organization,” said Mark Pritchett, president and CEO of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, in the release. “Our Board Institute provides the latest in good governance best practices and connects you to valuable resources that will help you be a more productive board member now and into the future,” he added in the release.
The group will participate in training experiences over four consecutive Fridays, from Oct. 7 to Oct. 28, at the Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s new Sarasota Philanthropy Center, which is located at 1549 State St. in Sarasota, the release points out. “Topics will include fundamentals of nonprofit board governance, financial and legal oversight responsibilities, and how to create a diverse, highly functioning and engaged board,” the release says. The training will be led by certified consultants who are part of Gulf Coast’s Invest in Incredible nonprofit capacity-building initiative, the release adds.
“Participants will be selected through a competitive process with the intent of creating a group of individuals with a variety of experiences,” the release explains. The Foundation provides all training and resources at no cost to participants, “in exchange for their commitment to serve as advocates for good board governance in current and future nonprofit board roles,” the release notes.
“Applicants are encouraged to be current, active board members at a nonprofit in the region, although prospective board members will also be considered,” the release says. “Because of strong demand for this high-quality training opportunity,” the release adds, applicants also must sign a commitment that they will attend all four days of training if they are selected.
