Chris Canaday of Columbus, Ohio, founder of Discovery Swim School, has joined Miracle Swimming for Adults of Sarasota as its first director of instructor development, the nonprofit organization has announced.

As a certified professional coach with more than 25 years in career counseling, program management and entrepreneurship, Canaday “brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role,” a news release says. He has been a Miracle Swimming practitioner for five years, the release adds.

The new post was created to support the approximately 60 Miracle Swimming instructors around the world in their practices and to train new ones, the release notes.

Canaday will be preparing highly experienced instructors to teach adults who are afraid in the water how to swim, do strokes and be safe in the ocean, the release continues.

“I spend my time with great people in a beautiful environment teaching a system that works for every fearful adult student every time,” Canady said in the release. “For a teacher, coach and aquatics enthusiast like me, this is a dream job!”
