FDLE and Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute host program

Capt. Brian James of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has graduated as a member of Class 27 of the Senior Leadership Program hosted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman has announced.
The graduation took place on the morning of May 16 at the FDLE headquarters in Tallahassee, a news release says.
The Senior Leadership Program consists of seven weeklong sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart, the release explains. Participants are eligible for up to nine graduate-level university credits offered through the Reubin O’D Askew School of Public Administration & Policy at Florida State University, the release adds.
“The intensive program requires students to design and complete an independent research project within the field of criminal justice,” the release continues. In addition to creating their individual projects, the release adds, participants studied innovative problem solving and strategic planning, and they learned “leadership skills that will help them become more well-rounded leaders in their respective agencies and communities.
“We encourage the continuing education of our supervisors as it provides a solid foundation for leadership, and mentorship within the agency.” said Sheriff Hoffman in the release. “We celebrate each accomplishment and take pride in their effort to better themselves and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.”
