The annual Kids’ Summer Beach Runs will be back on Siesta and North Brohard beaches from June through July, Sarasota County staff has announced.

The 1-mile “fun runs for children and families” are designed to encourage participation in healthy activities over the summer, a news release notes.

The free Kids’ Summer Beach Runs are scheduled as follows:

• Tuesdays, June 7 through July 26, at Siesta Beach, located at 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key.

• Wednesdays, June 1 through July 27, at North Brohard Beach, located at 1400 S. Harbor Drive in Venice.

No runs are scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, at Siesta Beach, or Wednesday, July 6, at North Brohard Beach, the release points out.

At Siesta Public Beach, registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. near the playground. For the North Brohard Beach events, registration will be conducted near the Venice Fishing Pier, the release adds. The runs will start at 6:30 p.m. at both locations.

Each participant will receive a finisher ribbon after every race, the release notes. Youngsters who complete four runs will receive a free T-shirt, a free child’s meal coupon for Gecko’s Grill & Pub, and a 50% off coupon for children’s New Balance shoes, the release points out. The runs may be completed at either location, the release says.

Kids’ Summer Beach Runs are presented by the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department, Sarasota Crew, New Balance of Sarasota and CoreSRQ, the release adds. Additional sponsors are the Florida Department of Health-Sarasota, Friends of Sarasota County Parks, Gecko’s Grill & Pub, Manasota Track Club, Sharky’s on the Pier, Siesta Beach Eats, and Siesta Key Kiwanis.
