The Office of the Sarasota County Clerk and County Comptroller has resumed accepting passport applications and issuing passport photos, by appointment, the office has announced.

Passport applications will be accepted at two office locations — in Sarasota, at the Historic Courthouse, and in Venice, at the R. L. Anderson Administration Center, which is located at 4000 S. Tamiami Trail, a news release says. Applicants should be prepared to follow U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines related to social distancing when applying for a passport, the release notes.

To schedule a passport services appointment, a person may call the Recording Office at 941-861-7436, the release adds.

A customer is encouraged to complete a passport application online, before visiting the Clerk and Comptroller’s office, and to check current passport processing timeframes when deciding how far in advance to apply for a passport and whether to choose routine or expedited processing, the release continues.

“Learn more about how to apply for a passport, including requirements, the passport application process steps, how to save time and money, and what to expect,” the release says.
