Kids’ Summer Beach Runs to be held again in June

Siesta Public Beach and Brohard Beach will host the free events

The annual Kids’ Summer Beach Runs will return to Siesta and Brohard beaches this June, the county has announced.

Presented by the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department New Balance Sarasota, Sarasota Crew, Sharky’s on the Pier, and Mommy Magazine, the 1-mile fun run is an opportunity for youngsters to participate in a healthful activity over the summer, a news release points out.

The Kids’ Summer Beach Runs will be offered every week this summer beginning Tuesday, June 5, at Siesta Beach, located at 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key; and Wednesday, June 6, at Brohard Beach, located at 1600 Harbor Drive in Venice. The free event will continues weekly until Aug. 7 at Siesta Beach andAug. 8at Brohard Beach.

Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. near the playground at Siesta Beach and near the Venice Fishing Pier at Brohard Beach. Race time for both locations is 6:30 p.m., the release notes.

Children who finish four runs will receive a free T-shirt. The runs may be completed at either location, the release points out. Every runner will receive a ribbon and a free ice pop each time he or she participates, the release adds.
