Along with partisan races, ballots include five universal primary contests
Sample ballots for the Aug. 23 Primary Election are available online, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner has announced.
A voter may access his or her personalized sample ballot by visiting SarasotaVotes.gov and clicking on the Sample Ballot icon in the blue bar near the top of the homepage, a news release explains. “Enter the required information and then follow the easy instructions to review the sample ballot,” the release adds.
Additionally, sample ballots were put in the mail this week to registered voters, a subsequent news release points out.
“The elections office is sending sample ballots to all voters in the county, except those who have requested vote-by-mail (absentee) ballots be mailed to them,” Turner explained in that July 26 release.
“Voters who plan to vote early or at their polling locations on election day may mark their choices on their sample ballots and take them to use as a reference when they go to vote,” Turner added in that release.
In the earlier advisory, Turner pointed out, “There is something for every Sarasota County voter in the Aug. 23 Primary Election.”
Along with partisan contests for registered Democratic and Republicans voters, he noted, each ballot includes three nonpartisan Sarasota County School Board contests and five universal primary contests (UPCs), including the one for state Senate District 22, and those for the four Sarasota Memorial Hospital board seats, the release points out. All voters, regardless of party affiliation, may participate in the UPCs, the release says.
Additionally, voters who reside within the city of Sarasota will be able to vote in the two nonpartisan, at-large City Commission contests, the release notes.
“I encourage every eligible voter to take a moment to access and familiarize themselves with their personalized sample ballot prior to voting,” Turner said in the release.
