County’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program gets another $2.5 million from U.S. Treasury

Disbursements of funds has resumed

Having received an additional $2.5 million from the U.S. Department of Treasury on Sept. 28, Sarasota County’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) once again has been disbursing funds, county staff has announced.

Further, on Monday, Oct. 10, the program resumed accepting requests from current applicants seeking additional funds, a county news release says. Requests for extra funding “will be processed in the order they are received,” the release notes.

Staff continues “to work diligently to distribute Emergency Rental Assistance funds into the community as quickly and responsibly as possible,” the release adds.

Ambassador locations are open if an applicant wants assistance with the process, the release points out, referring to volunteers in libraries and other locations who have been helping applicants. A full list of Ambassador locations may be found at https://www.scgov.net/RENT.

As a reminder, the release points out the program stopped accepting new applications on Sept. 19.

Those impacted by Hurricane Ian are encouraged to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster assistance, the release says. Individuals may visit this link for more information on that aid.
