Artists’ applications are being accepted for the City of Sarasota’s first-ever Public Art Roster, city staff has announced.

The roster will pre-qualify artists for consideration for public art-funded initiatives during the period of 2024-26, a news release explains. Artists may submit applications at www.Sarasotafl.gov/CallForArtists, the release adds.

The deadline for those applications is Monday, Sept. 25, the release points out.

“The roster will serve as the primary tool to launch new strategies and goals for citywide public art projects,” the release notes.

“The Public Art program is positioned for growth and advancement due to the City Commission’s recent adoption of the Public Art Plan,” said Public Art Manager Mary Davis Wallace in the release. “The artist roster will streamline the process by pre-qualifying local, regional and international artists for a variety of exciting projects over the next few years.”

The roster is open to individual artists, artist teams and artist collectives, the release notes. Questions should be directed to PublicArt@Sarasotafl.gov.
