Event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Sarasota Garden Club
On Monday, May 9, the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) will hold a forum for the candidates campaigning for the Florida Senate District 23 seat, the organization has announced.
Candidates Frank Anthony Cirillo, Doug Holder, Rick Levine, Nora Patterson, Ray Pilon and Greg Steube have been invited to attend the session, a news release says.
“Using atypical question formats and timing, CONA makes an effort to provide its members and the public with a more thorough understanding of the positions of each candidate than usually achieved at candidate forums,” the release says. Dan Lobeck will be the moderator.
“Because we and many of our members take vacations in the summer, we are starting early to reach the greatest number of voters,” the release says. “There is much to cover before the primary in August,” it adds, noting that the organization’s monthly meeting in June also will be devoted to a forum.
“We video and post our meetings to our [website], so our forums will be available through the election in November.
See www.conasarasota.org/meetings for more about CONA,” the release points out.
A social will begin at 6:30 p.m. on May 9, the release says, followed by the forum. CONA meetings are held at the Sarasota Garden Club, located at 1131 Boulevard of the Arts in Sarasota. It is at the intersection of Tamiami Trail, south of the Municipal Auditorium. The parking area and the entrance are reached from Van Wezel Way.
