Staff members of the City of Sarasota will share an update on the design for a new Bayfront Park playground and splash pad at a public meeting on Dec. 7, the city has announced.

“The existing playground and children’s fountain have reached the end of their life cycle,” a news release explains. “The City has selected Jon F. Swift Construction to reimagine both, with a goal of improving and expanding ADA [Americans with Disabilities Act] accessibility, inclusivity and safety,” the release adds. The project also will “utilize sustainable and lasting materials more fitting for a coastal environment to create a splash pad that can accommodate more year-round use, instead of seasonal, while connecting it with the playground to encourage use of both fun amenities,” the release says

The meeting is set for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, in the SRQ Media Studio at the City Hall Annex, which is located at 1565 First St.

“The design/build team and Parks and Recreation Department staff will be available to answer questions and hear feedback from the community,” the release notes. “An estimated timeline for construction and project renderings will be shared at the meeting.”
