As of nearly midday Oct. 30, unofficial turnout at early voting locations numbers 79,319
Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding voters that they still have time to take advantage of in-person, early voting for the Nov. 5 General Election.
Through Sunday, Oct. 27, more than 57,000 Sarasota County voters had cast their ballots during early voting, an Elections Office news release said. The number of registered voters eligible to participate in the General Election in Sarasota County is 333,464, Paul Donnelly, director of communications and voter outreach, told The Sarasota News Leader in an Oct. 28 email in response to its inquiry about the figure. “You can see the unofficial turnout in real time here,” he added.
Just before midday on Oct. 30, the total number of early votes was 79,319, as shown on a pie chart found through the above link.
Already, counting vote-by-mail ballots that had been received, the webpage said that the unofficial turnout for the November General Election was at the 47.29% mark.
In-person early voting continues through Sunday, Nov. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily at 10 locations throughout the county, the release pointed out.
“As we expected, the turnout thus far for early voting has been incredibly strong,” Turner added in the release. “I encourage anyone thinking about voting early to do so before it ends this Sunday.” He continued. “Early voting is a true hybrid, offering the convenience and flexibility of vote-by-mail with the in-person tradition of election day voting.”
Voters who choose the early voting option must present valid photo and signature identification at the polls, the release noted, just as they would on Election Day.
