JFCS of Suncoast providing 1,800 meals week of March 29 to those suffering negative financial impacts as result of COVID-19 pandemic

In an ongoing effort to support those who have suffered negative financial effects as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, JFCS of the Suncoast will be providing 1,800 meals from Paradise Grill at various locations during the week of March 29, the nonprofit has announced.

All locations will be utilizing low-contact, drive-through or walk-up procedures to distribute meals that will include a sautéed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a cookie, a news release says. Each meal will be come in a Styrofoam box sealed in plastic, and napkins and cutlery will be provided, the release adds.

Any person who would like to support individuals and families in need of a hot meal may click on the Donate button located at jfcs-cares.org or send a check made payable to JFCS of the Suncoast Inc. at 2688 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, FL 34237, with “COVID-19 outreach” in the memo section, the release points out.

“If you are in need of a meal, please show up at one of the locations during the date and time listed below,” the release notes. The meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, it adds.

  • Englewood: Living Hope Church will be serving meals at San Casa Park (6791 San Casa Drive) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and at Indian Mound Park (210 Winson Ave.) from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30. Please call 941-475-2906 if you have questions.
  • North Port: Awaken Church will be serving meals on-site (2573 N. Toledo Blade Blvd.) from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 1.
  • Sarasota (Newtown): JFCS staff and volunteers will be serving meals at the Betty J. Johnson North Sarasota Public Library in Newtown (2801 Newtown Blvd.) from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 1.
  • Venice: One Christ Won City Church will be serving meals during the 9 a.m. service at Community Assistance Ministry (4356 State Road 776); at 9:30 a.m. during the Coffee Talk at the Venice Train Depot (303 E. Venice Ave.); and at 11 a.m. at the Center for Hope (2395 Shamrock Drive) on Tuesday, March 30. Additionally, One Christ Won City Church will be serving meals at the Center for Hope (2395 Shamrock Drive) at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 1.
