Bestselling author Harlan Coben serves as speaker for fundraiser

The Library Foundation for Sarasota County welcomed more than 600 guests to its 14th annual Love Our Libraries Author Luncheon on Feb. 6, “raising a record-setting $556,730 to support Sarasota County’s public libraries,” the nonprofit has announced.
The guest speaker was New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben, a news release notes.
“Event proceeds will enhance library programs and resources” at all 10 Sarasota County public libraries “and strengthen advocacy efforts,” the release says.
The Love Our Libraries Author Luncheon was supported by 46 community partners, including the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and Bookstore1 Sarasota, the release adds.
“We’re deeply grateful to our community partners and donors for their support of this event,” said Alisa Mitchell, executive director of the Library Foundation, in the release. “Their generosity allows us to strengthen our public libraries in Sarasota County and ensure vital resources remain accessible to all,” Mitchell added.
“The mission of the Library Foundation for Sarasota County is to champion strong public libraries, support innovation and help to extend the library system’s reach for everyone in Sarasota County,” the release explains. Since its founding in 2011, the Library Foundation for Sarasota County has raised more than $8 million in private funds for the benefit of Sarasota County’s public libraries, the release adds.
