Event set for Dec. 12 at Stoneybrook Golf and Country club in Sarasota
On Dec. 12, the League of Women Voters of Sarasota County will hold its holiday luncheon, which will feature guest speaker Diane McFarlin, former publisher of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and dean emeritus of the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, the League has announced.
“Trust in our nation’s foundational institutions, particularly government and media, is at a historic low,” a news release says. “Modern technology, with its proliferation of misinformation, plays a central role in this loss of faith, but there is much more to the story,” the release adds. McFarlin “will share insights on modern information technology, helping us become more discerning consumers of information,” the release notes.
The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club, which is located at 8801 Stoneybrook Blvd. in Sarasota. To register, go to this link.
