Orioles to host fifth annual, free Sarasota Springfest at 9 a.m. on Feb. 15 at Ed Smith Stadium

Spring Training season to offer new and returning features, including ‘Spring Madness Watch Party’

The Baltimore Orioles are inviting fans of all ages to celebrate the club’s 10thanniversary at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota with a variety of events and promotions throughout the 2020 Spring Training season.

On Saturday, Feb. 15, the Orioles will host the fifth annual Sarasota Springfest from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a news release notes. The event, which is free, will feature Orioles practice, fan games, souvenir photos, and local food trucks. Additionally, once again, members of the public will have opportunities to “Have A Catch” on the Ed Smith Stadium field, take a behind-the-scenes tour of the ballpark, and participate in a “Pitch for Charity” event to benefit Miracle League of Manasota, the release says.

The event will conclude with a question-and-answer session with Orioles right-handed pitcher Hunter Harvey at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Fans also are welcome to watch the Orioles practice at Ed Smith Stadium through the final day of workouts on Feb. 21. Practices take place from approximately 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the release points out. No fee is charged, and complimentary parking is provided in the East Lot, the release adds.

The Orioles will offer an extensive slate of unique promotions and giveaways throughout the Spring Training season, the release continues. Among the giveaways will be a Retro Swinging Bird T-Shirt on Feb. 25, a Brooks Robinson bobblehead on Feb. 26, a Birdland Hawaiian shirt on March 14, and a set of two Orioles outdoor pint glasses on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, the release continues.

Two other popular features will be back this spring, the release points out. Kids Run the Bases will be held after every Sunday home game for fans ages 4 to 14. Seniors Run the Bases will be offered on Feb. 25, March 10 and March 17 for fans age 60 and over, the release notes.

Further, the Orioles this season will debut post-game happy hours, during which fans can enjoy discounted drink specials after Sunday home games. The dates for those events are Feb. 23, March 8 and March 13.

On March 14, the Orioles will host Youth Sports Day, presented by Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT), for pre-registered youth sports teams, the release says.

“On March 19, baseball and basketball will come together for the Spring Madness Watch Party,” the release continues. The event, which will offer free admission to all, will feature games, basketball, and other activities, the release adds.

The Orioles will wrap up the Spring Training season with Fireworks Night, presented by Sun-N-Fun RV Resort, on March 21, when the team will play its final night game of four scheduled at Ed Smith Stadium this year.
