Facility open Mondays through Saturdays

The Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources Department is expanding the hours at the Osprey Library and History Center, staff announced this week.
The facility is open on Fridays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., a news release says.
“These additional hours aim to improve access, address community feedback and strengthen public engagement across the county’s library system,” the release explains.
The following are the new hours for the facility, the release says:
- Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Located at 337 N. Tamiami Trail in Osprey, the Osprey Library and History Center is housed in a 1927 schoolhouse near the Historic Spanish Point campus of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens,” the release notes. “Since the library’s establishment in November 2011, it has served patrons in a cozy space with a wide array of services,” including the following, the release points out:
- “Print, digital and audio books.
- “Magazines, DVDs/Blu-rays and music titles.
- “Access to robust digital databases.
- “Free Wi-Fi and public computers.”
Established in 1977, the Sarasota County History Center “supports the preservation and sharing of Sarasota County’s rich past,” the release continues. “While a new state-of-the-art facility is under construction at the Fruitville Library, the current site continues to serve as a resource for local history and archival research.”
