Facility open Monday through Saturday

The Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources Department has opened a portable library at 100 Apex Road in Sarasota to provide continued service to patrons while the Fruitville Library undergoes renovations, county staff has announced.
As The Sarasota News Leader has reported, the library temporarily closed on Dec. 18, 2025 for the construction of the new county History Center and the expansion of the existing library.
A county Capital Projects Department update issued for this month says the library is expected to reopen in early summer, the News Leader learned.
The hours for the portable library are as follows:
- Monday through Thursday — 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday — closed.
Among the services available at the portable library are “holds pickup, access to a selected browsing collection and account assistance,” the release points out. “Curbside service is also available by calling 941-861-2512,” the release adds.
“Visit the Fruitville Library webpage for more information,” the release says.
Residents also are able to access full library services, including computers, expanded collections, meeting spaces and in-person programs, at nearby libraries. Visit SarasotaCountyLibraries.org.
