Registration open for 2020 Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifier at Bobby Jones Golf Club

Event for boys and girls to be held on July 13

The sign-up period began March 4 for the Sixth Annual PGA Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifier, scheduled at Bobby Jones Golf Club on Saturday, July 13, the City of Sarasota has announced.

“Drive, Chip and Putt is a free youth golf development initiative aiming to help younger generations begin their lifelong connection with golf by providing a fun, interactive platform for participants of all skill levels,” a news release explains.

Open to boys and girls ages 7 to 15, qualifying will take place throughout all 50 states during the months of May, June, July, and August, the release adds. “Top performers at the local level will advance through sub-regional and regional qualifiers at some of the country’s best championship venues” in July, August and September, the release notes.

The top 80 performers — 40 boys and 40 girls — will earn an invitation to the National Finals at Augusta National in Georgia on Sunday, April 5, the eve of the 2020 Masters, the release points out. The National Finals will be broadcast live by the Golf Channel, the release says.
