Three Main Street sites in Sarasota among six mainland locations available for riders to catch the trolley
On Nov. 2, Sarasota County Breeze Transit expanded its Route 77 Siesta Islander trolley route to serve downtown Sarasota, county staff is reminding the public. This weekend, “with two weeks of the expanded service completed,” Sarasota County staff “is confident the trolley is ready to carry attendees” to the Crystal Classic International Sand Sculpting Festival on Siesta Key, a news release notes.
“Providing alternative transportation to the county’s most-visited destinations is one of our primary goals,” said Transit Director Jane Grogg in the release. “For seven years, our trolley service has helped on-island travelers avoid the hassle of congested traffic or searching for parking,” she pointed out. “Now, with the 77 Siesta Islander’s extension to downtown Sarasota, we can offer that same easy Breeze experience to visitors who are traveling from the mainland.”
The release explains, “The 77 Siesta Islander is a free, open-air trolley that runs approximately every 30 minutes, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Mainland boarding locations are as follows:
- Main Street at Indian Place.
- Main Street at Lemon Avenue.
- Main Street at Palm Avenue.
- Bayfront Drive at Ringling Boulevard.
- Osprey Avenue at Arlington Street.
- The Crossings at Siesta Key Mall.
In addition to Route 77, Breeze Route 33 travels to Siesta Beach, with transfers available from Breeze Routes 14, 17, and 25 at the Crossings at Siesta Key Mall, the release notes.
“Passengers can plan connections or track Breeze vehicles in real-time,” the release adds, thanks to the Breeze Rider mobile app, or they can go online at breezetransit.net/breezerider
