Sarah Kenniff of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has been named 2015 Corrections Accreditation Manager of the Year by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC), Sheriff Tom Knight has announced.

Kenniff received the award on June 21 during the Florida Police Accreditation Coalition (FLA-PAC) conference in Orlando, a news release says.

She joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2006 as the media relations specialist assigned to the Community Affairs Office and then transferred in January 2012 to the Accreditation Unit as the corrections accreditation manager, the release adds.

Kenniff is credited with helping the Sheriff’s Office earn 100-percent compliance and re-accreditation in 2012 and again in 2015, the release points out. She also has been recognized for being instrumental in not only the review, revision and electronic filing of more than 2,500 pages of general orders, but also for her work on all 12 Sheriff’s Office bureau manuals, the release notes.

“This prestigious recognition puts Mrs. Kenniff in an elite class of her own,” said Knight in the release. “Her knowledge of the accreditation and compliance process is invaluable towards the continued success of our agency.”

Kenniff serves as an assessor for both the FCAC and Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, the release notes. She holds a bachelor’s degree from American Public University and is working toward her Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional designation.
