Sheriff’s Office investigating June 28 shooting in Nokomis

At 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office announced that it was investigating a shooting that had occurred in the area of Turner Street and Church Street in Nokomis.

The two vehicles involved in the incident “fled the area after the shooting took place,” an advisory said. “One vehicle has been described as a black BMW,” the advisory noted; the second vehicle was a green Chevy Bronco.

The agency’s Criminal Investigation Section reported that a “person of interest” had been identified but was not in custody at that time.

The incident location is southeast of Laurel Road and east of U.S. 41, an aerial map shows. The area is residential.
