Hours will be 9 a.m. to noon

In partnership with The Bay Park, the City of Sarasota in November will hold another “Shred Stock,” staff announced in the city’s Oct. 17 newsletter.
Set for Saturday, Nov. 8, this will be a free, drive-up document-shredding event in the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall parking lot, the newsletter notes. It will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon, the newsletter adds.
“City of Sarasota residents will have the opportunity to securely destroy up to four boxes of documents, including papers and file folders with or without staples and paper clips,” the newsletter explains. “During this drive-up event, materials should be placed in your vehicle trunk to be removed and destroyed on-site by Records and Information Management Division staff, free of charge,” the release notes. “Empty boxes will be returned to residents’ vehicles.”
A local band, The Garbage Men, will perform ’60s hits “on their iconic home-built instruments,” the newsletter further points out, adding, “You won’t want to miss it!”
During the first Shred Stock event — held in March — more than 180 residents “came by to have sensitive documents quickly and securely disposed of while enjoying live music,” the newsletter says.
“Shred Stock is available for City of Sarasota residents only,” the newsletter points out. “Participants may be asked to show proof of residency upon arrival,” it adds.
