Siesta Key Condominium Council to host Jan. 14 Zoom meeting focused on insurance issues for associations

The leaders of the Siesta Key Condominium Council (SKCC) will host a meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 3 p.m. that will feature Mike Angers of the Brown and Brown Insurance Agency, they have announced.

Angers is the senior vice president of Brown of Florida, his company biography notes. He has been a specialist in condominium association insurance in the Sarasota area for 30 years, it adds. He also has been an insurance educator for the State of Florida for more than 20 years, the biography says.

Brown & Brown is the largest writer of insurance for condominium associations in Florida, the biography points out.

The topics to be addressed during the Jan. 14 meeting are as follows, the Condominium Council says:

  • Claims involving damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton, including the most common issues that associations are facing as a result of those storms.
  • How insurance carriers are responding to the claims.
  • How the multiple storms in 2024 affected the claims process.
  • Typical items excluded from claims
  • Flood claims versus wind claims.
  • Deductibles and how they are applied.
  • “What to expect for 2025 and beyond” for insurance coverage and premiums.
  • Lessons learned from the 2024 storm season.
