One-time registration fee of $5 required by county’s Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department

Sarasota County’s annual Sunrise Beach Walks series is returning in February, the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department has announced.
The self-guided walks will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays at Siesta Beach, which stands at 948 Beach Road on Siesta Key, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Thursdays at Nokomis Beach, which is located at 100 Casey Key Road, a county news release says. They will begin on Feb. 4 and continue through March 26, the release adds.
Participants are asked to register “on-site in front of the Beach Ambassador kiosk at Siesta Beach or in front of the Plaza Room at Nokomis Beach,” the release notes. The one-time fee is $5, the release points out, and only credit cards will be accepted.
For more than 20 years, Sunrise Beach Walks have promoted healthful habits, outdoor recreation and appreciation of coastal habitats, the release continues. “In 2025,” it adds, “nearly 400 people participated in this wellness event.
“Sunrise Beach Walks encourage residents to get outside, be active and experience a beautiful beach park,” said Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources specialist Aaron Carson in the release. “We love seeing people return week after week and celebrating their progress when they complete the series,” Carson added.
After completing four walks, a participant “will receive a custom event shirt,” the release notes. Participants who complete all eight weeks of walks will receive an additional gift, it says.
