Opportunities to be provided countywide on Wednesday, Sept. 25
In observance of National Voter Registration Day, Sept. 25, the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections office has scheduled a number of voter drives in the county to help people register to vote in time for the Nov. 6 General Election.
“The right to vote is one of our most important freedoms,” Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner said in a news release. “So, in recognition of the 2018 National Voter Registration campaign, we want to highlight the importance of participating in the electoral process and give people another opportunity to register to vote or to update their voter records. I encourage all citizens to register and make their voices heard at the ballot box this Nov. 6,” he added in the release.
The following voter registration drives are scheduled:
Tuesday, September 25
- Selby Public Library, located at 1331 First St. in Sarasota, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- New College of Florida’s Sudakoff Conference Center, located at 5845 General Dougher Place in Sarasota, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Englewood Sports Complex, located at 1300 S. River Rd. in Englewood, 1 to 4 p.m.
- North Port Library, located at 13800 S. Tamiami Trail in North Port, 10 a.m. to noon.
- Shannon Staub Library, located at 4675 Career Lane in North Port, 2 to 4 p.m.
Wednesday, September 26
North Port Area Chamber of Commerce Candidate Forum, which will be held at VFW Post 8203, located at 4860 Trott Circle in North Port, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, September 27
Sarasota County Schools’ Fall College Night, which will be held in Robarts Arena, located at 3000 Ringling Blvd. in Sarasota, from 6 to 8 p.m.
In addition to the opportunities listed above, persons may apply for voter registration Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at any of the three Supervisor of Elections offices in the county: in Sarasota (2001 Adams Lane), Venice (4000 Tamiami Trail South) or North Port (13640 Tamiami Trail), the release points out.
A voter registration application also may be completed and submitted online at RegistertoVoteFlorida.gov or downloaded from the Sarasota County elections website at SarasotaVotes.com.
