Four new Courts and Corrections deputies recognized

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Corrections Training Academy has marked the graduation of its third class, Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman has announced.
On Sept. 9, the four newest recruits of the Courts and Corrections Division gathered at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters to celebrate with family, friends and agency members, a news release says. Their graduation followed their completion of an extensive academy curriculum, during which they were instructed in physical fitness, firearms, defensive tactics and first aid, as well as legal, officer safety, and correctional supervision issues, the release points out. Additionally, they trained in emergency response and communications, and they “were made familiar with the agency’s facility and equipment,” the release adds.
“With this graduation, we welcome our third graduating class from the SCSO Corrections Training Academy,” commented Sheriff Hoffman. “It is exciting to welcome these recruits to our agency and a privilege to provide the training and education that form their correctional careers.”
The four graduates are Class President and Corrections Deputy Maeiesha Dexter, Corrections Deputy Emily Lorenzen, Corrections Deputy Roger Rios, and Corrections Deputy Michael Centeno-Kuykendall, the release notes. Each will be assigned to the Corrections Bureau, where they will continue their training, the release adds.
