On March 31, three members of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office graduated as part of Class XXXIII of the Command Officer Management Program sponsored by St. Leo University, Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman has announced.

Corrections Operations Bureau Lt. Jessica Evanish, Community Services Lt. Jesse Gieseke and Information Technology Bureau Manager Stephen Venesky participated in the 18-credit-hour certificate program, which consists of six courses over six months, a news release explains. The students’ curriculum covers critical incident management and human resources issues, ethics, leadership standards “and other relevant administrative competencies,” the release adds.

The Executive Leadership Institute of St. Leo University’s Command Officer Management program was designed to provide on-site education that prepares law enforcement officers and employees to transition to command staff and leadership positions, the release notes.

“Developing future leaders and preparing for succession is a key focus at the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Hoffman in the release. “This level of advanced continuing education strengthens our agency and ensures we continue to provide the service and leadership that our community deserves.”
