Sarasota County residents may stay two consecutive nights for the price of one at Turtle Beach Campground on Siesta Key, the county has announced.

The buy one, get one free (“BOGO”) special offer runs through Aug. 31, a county news release says, providing local residents the opportunity to enjoy camping on the Gulf of Mexico.

Guests must show proof of residency and stay two consecutive nights on the same site, the news release says.

“Turtle Beach Campground is one of only a handful of sites on the west coast of Florida that offers camping right on the beach,” said Tricia Wisner of Sarasota County Parks and Recreation in the news release. “The BOGO special really does offer a great way for Sarasota County families to enjoy an affordable mini-vacation right in their own backyard.”

Acquired by Sarasota County in 2006 to increase waterfront access for the public, Turtle Beach Campground has been a popular camping destination for seasonal visitors for decades. The campground can accommodate recreational vehicles with full hookups and tent campers, and it offers amenities such as free cable TV, Wi-Fi and laundry and shower facilities.

The county undertook some renovations of the campground a couple of years ago to improve its appearance.
