Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding voters that the last day to register to vote in the March 14 municipal elections will be Monday, Feb. 13.

The March 14 elections will include the City of North Port Special Primary, the City of Sarasota First Election and the Town of Longboat Key General Election, a news release notes.

Voter registration applications are available at all three county elections offices — in Sarasota, Venice and North Port — as well as at public libraries, military recruitment offices and public assistance offices, the release says. They also may be downloaded at www.SarasotaVotes.com. Additionally, an application may be submitted through any driver license or tax collector office that issues Florida driver licenses or Florida ID cards, the release adds.

New applications must be completed, signed and returned in person or by mail to an elections office or one of the agencies listed above no later than the Feb. 13 book-closing deadline, the release stresses.

Voters who have moved or changed their names — and those who need to update their signatures since the last election — also may complete voter registration applications to update their records, the release says.

Turner recommends that voters verify their registration status prior to the book-closing deadline by visiting www.SarasotaVotes.com or by calling the Supervisor of Elections Office at 861-8619.
