The deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation for the Aug. 20 Primary Election is Monday, July 22, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding citizens.

“Individuals interested in voting in the Aug. 20 Primary Election must be registered by July 22 to vote in the election,” Turner stressed in a news release. “Likewise, current voters who wish to change party affiliation for the Primary Election must do so by Monday’s deadline.”

“Registering to vote or changing party affiliation is fast and easy and can be done online at RegistertoVoteFlorida.gov or in person” at the election offices in Sarasota, Venice and North Port election, the release points out.

Turner also announced that sample ballots for the Aug. 20 Primary Election are available online. Voters may access their personalized sample ballots by visiting SarasotaVotes.gov “and clicking on the Sample Ballot quick link icon at the top of the page,” the release explains.

“Your sample ballot is a great tool to familiarize yourself with the races on the Aug. 20 Primary Election ballot,” Turner noted in the release. “All it takes is a few clicks to download your ballot and begin researching the contests.”

Further, Turner is reminding voters that mailed sample ballots will be sent to all registered Sarasota County voters at the end of July, except those who have requested vote-by-mail (absentee) ballot, the release notes.

“Whether you download and print your sample ballot from SarasotaVotes.gov or fill in the sample ballot you received in the mail, a good practice is to bring your completed sample ballot with you as a reference guide if you plan to vote in person,” Turner pointed out in the release.
