In honor of National Hire a Veteran Day, a veterans job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the Florida Department of Health building in downtown Sarasota, county staff has announced.

The Health Department facilities stand at 2200 Ringling Blvd., at the intersection of School Avenue.

“More than 70 jobs with Sarasota County Government are available for veterans and community members,” a news release notes. Open positions may be viewed at scgov.net/jobs.

“Veterans applying for positions with Sarasota County Government may receive Veterans’ Preference, recognizing the discipline and mission-driven mindset they bring to public service,” the release adds. “Sarasota County highly values those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces,” it points out.

“We truly appreciate the commitment of service from our veterans,” said Chief Veterans Services Officer Darrell Butler in the release. “When veterans work for Sarasota County, they are able to continue their passion for public service and be surrounded by a team that shares the same sentiment.”

“Sarasota County aims to attract, develop, retain and engage a talented workforce that reflects and represents the community it serves,” the release adds.
