With nine years under its figurative belt, “Music Compound is on the move – literally,” the owner of the business has announced.

With its Cattlemen Road location having been sold, “owner Jenny Townsend saw the opportunity to merge its Sarasota and Manatee County locations at a brand new, state-of-the-art facility near the Fruitville Road/I-75 corridor,” a news release points out. The location officially will open for business on Aug. 12, the release adds.

“The new 10,000-square foot-facility, located at 775 Bell Road in Sarasota, will feature large, soundproofed private rooms, larger rooms for various group lessons and programs, and a dedicated space for the New Horizons Concert Band program,” the release notes. Further, a sizable area will be available for musical theatre and early childhood programs, the release says, “and the new facility will have “a fantastic event space” with a stage and lighting of professional quality.

Among the other features will be a lounge for parents and music, “providing comfortable and creative spaces for everyone involved in Music Compound programs,” the release continues. Leaders of the school note they also are excited to be able to incorporate a recording studio into the facility, to support students in creating original music.

“To better serve its members and further enhance its offerings,” the release says, “Music Compound is already in the process of adding four new teachers to its team in July and August — including vocal and piano coaches” — and it will offer lessons in Spanish.

“We’re so pleased with and proud of the growth and evolution of the business, from our beginnings in 2016 through today,” Townsend says in the release. “I feel that we’ve really built a brand that encompasses a true feeling of community and educational excellence, as well as a workplace where team members are happy to come to work each and every day,” she added.

“Our Cattlemen Road location had been maxed out for several years; our new facility will enable us to grow, strengthen existing program offerings, and try our hand at new ventures,” she pointed out. “We invite the community to visit and take a tour!”

“Music Compound provides an environment to inspire, collaborate, and educate children and adults in pursuit of their love of music,” the release explains. Among the programs available are homeschool options; Piano Jam (ages 8 to 12); Kidz Rock (ages 4 to 7) and Junior Rockers (ages 8 to 11); musical theatre; the youth band program (live, performance-based); Intro to Music; the New Horizons Concert Band (ages 50+); and “jam opportunities for all ages.”

Further, lessons are offered for all ages in a variety of instruments, including piano, guitar, bass, drums, violin and ukulele, plus voice.
“Over the course of its run thus far,” the release points out, Music Compound has earned numerous awards, including being named the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year in 2019. This year, the business was a nominee in the Woman Owned Business of the Year category.
