Attendees encouraged to bring food donations for All Faiths Food Bank

Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman is extending an invitation to members of the public to attend the agency’s SCSO Block Party on Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will take place at the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, which is located at 6010 Cattleridge Blvd. in Sarasota.
The free, family-friendly event will feature food, music, demonstrations, games and giveaways, a news release notes. Members of the agency’s SWAT Team, Corrections Emergency Response Team, Mounted Patrol, K-9 Division, Marine Unit and Aviation Division, among others, “will display their equipment and demonstrate their skills, offering attendees an inside look at what they do,” the release points out. The Human Resources staff “will provide information about career opportunities,” the release continues, and representatives of the agency’s Animal Services Section will share details “about the adoptable animals.”
Children “who complete their SCSO passport book with stickers may be entered to win a prize,” it adds.
“This event will not only be a fun and educational experience for those who attend, but it will also be a way for the agency, attendees, and our whole community to contribute for the purpose of fighting food insecurity in our community this summer,” the release points out. “Partnering with All Faiths Food Bank, again this year, SCSO will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items through April 11,” the release adds.
