Event to be held at agency’s downtown Sarasota headquarters

The Sarasota Police Department is inviting the community residents to its upcoming Spring Fest, which will be held on Tuesday, April 14, the agency announced this week.
“This free, family-friendly event is designed to bring neighbors and agency members together for an afternoon and evening of fun and connection,” a news release says.
The event will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Police Department Headquarters, which stands at 2099 Adams Lane in downtown Sarasota, near Payne Park.
“Spring Fest focuses on building relationships in a relaxed and welcoming environment,” the news release continues. “If you’re new to the area or a long-time resident, the event offers a great opportunity to meet the officers who serve the city and learn more about the agency in a positive, interactive setting,” it adds.
Guests will be able to enjoy a variety of activities for all ages, including free food, live music, a junior SWAT obstacle course, and face painting, the release notes. Attendees also will “have the opportunity to meet police officers, explore police vehicles, tour emergency equipment and step inside the agency’s mobile command center,” it says. “This will give attendees a closer look at the tools the Sarasota Police Department uses every day to keep the City of Sarasota safe,” the release points out.
“Our goal is to strengthen relationships with the community we serve,” said Sarasota Police Chief Rex Troche in the release. “Events like Spring Fest allow the Sarasota Police Department to connect with our community in a positive and meaningful way,” Troche added.
“By creating space for casual conversations and shared experiences,” the release explains, “the Sarasota Police Department continues its commitment to community-oriented policing.”
