Newtown residents eager to get rid of items they no longer want and those working to beautify their yards will be welcome to participate in the Community Cleanup in their neighborhood, which has been scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 27, Sarasota County has announced.

The cleanup will give residents the opportunity to discard household items, yard waste, tree trimmings, junk and other garbage or refuse, a news release says. Dumpsters will be available for residents’ convenience — at no charge — at the following locations, the release adds: Newtown Estates Park on Newtown Boulevard at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way (primary location); the intersection of Chilk Avenue and 19th Street; and the intersection of 23rd Street and Chester Avenue.

Electronics, TVs and computers will be accepted at all collections sites, but no hazardous materials will be accepted, the release points out.
