Eight teams and eight solo artist sand sculptors will compete during the 11th Siesta Key Crystal Classic International Sand Sculpting Festival, which will take place on Siesta Beach from Nov. 12 to Nov. 15, the organizers have announced.

The winning sculptures will be declared during an awards ceremony at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14, a news release notes. Visitors may continue viewing the sculptures and vote for the People’s Choice winner until the festival closes at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, the release adds.

The People’s Choice results will appear at http://www.facebook.com/SiestaKeyCrystalClassic, the release notes.

“And it’s more than just sand,” the release points out. The festival also will feature live music, “along with a large village of shopping and food and drink vendors,” the release adds. Among other activities will be the popular three-day Quick Sand competition, free sand-sculpting lessons and demonstrations, and an amateur competition on Saturday, the release continues.

Further, “Meredith, co-host of the popular Jones and Company morning show on 107.9 WSRZ,” will be on-site on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Additionally, the festival will be open until 9 p.m. on Saturday with live music by Fleetwood Max, authentic Fleetwood Mac tribute band. “The sculptures will be lit through a fabulous light display and the party tent will be open until closing time,” the release says.

The Siesta Key Crystal Classic is presented by the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce. “Our mission is to promote tourism, local businesses and the visual arts via the production of one of the most unique sculpture festivals held in the world on the #1 beach in the U.S.,” the release adds.
