Virtual gallery available through Sept. 30

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens has announced the winners of its 45th Annual Juried Photographic Exhibition, with the images available in a virtual gallery that may be accessed at selby.org.
“The show includes nearly 300 photographs that were taken by photographers at Selby Gardens’ two campuses,” a news release explains. “Prizes were awarded to top photographs in the exhibition, with the Best in Show honor going to Debbie Durham and her photo, Peter Pan Into the Light,” the release notes.
“This virtual exhibition offers a stunning glimpse into the diverse landscapes and living art that make Selby Gardens such a special place,” Selby Gardens President and CEO Jennifer Rominiecki said in the release.
The photos will be available through Sept. 30, the release notes.
In addition to the Best in Show honor, awards for first place were given in each of the five exhibition categories, the release adds:
- Living Art — Natural Curves, Allyson Galuska.
- Make a Splash — Harmonic, Joseph Sidenberg.
- Plant Portraits — Life in the Water, Stan Jernigan.
- The Birds and the Bees — Sunflower Story: Reflections of a Pollinator, Jessie Williams.
- Black & White — In Harmony with Nature, Lisa Harris.

Ten additional photos were recognized with honorable mentions, the release notes:
- Art of the Butterfly Bush, Jonathan Tasler.
- Biting The Hand That Feeds You, Gary McNulty.
- Yayoi Kusama Leaf, Gonzalo Hernandez Jr.
- Reincarnation: The Revival of the Atala Butterfly, Stephanie Leaver.
- Reaching up High, Joseph Vitone.
- Water Fountain, Debra Connolly.
- Grandeur in Miniature, Mary Valente.
- Buttonbush Bloom, Christopher Harrington.
- Me and My Shadow, Bonnie Hammer.
- Purple!, James Hall.
Entrants could submit up to three individual photos, which had to have been taken within the past year at either the downtown Sarasota campus or the Historic Spanish Point campus of Selby Gardens, the release points out.
