County business tax payments due by Sept. 30

‘Quickest and easiest’ way to pay is to go online, Tax Collector’s Office staff says

Payments of the 2020-2021 Sarasota County Business Tax are due by Wednesday, Sept. 30, Sarasota County Tax Collector Barbara Ford-Coates is reminding all business owners.

“The county business tax is required if you are engaging in a business, profession or occupation located within Sarasota County,” a news release explains. “Any business that has not received a renewal notice,” or any new business that has not registered, should contact the Tax Collector’s Office immediately at 941-861-8300, Option 3, or email Info@SarasotaTaxCollector.com, the release points out.

“The quickest and easiest way to pay is at www.SarasotaTaxCollector.com,” the release notes. After the online payment has been completed, the release says, “[A] Business Tax Receipt can be printed the next business day.” Payments also may be mailed to 101 S. Washington Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34236 or placed in a 24-hour drop box located at one of the following locations:

  • The Adams Lane entrance of the Terrace Building in downtown Sarasota, which is located at 101 S. Washington Blvd.
  • The entrance of the Mid-County Office, located at 6100 Sawyer Loop Road in Sarasota.
  • Near the south entrance of the R.L. Anderson Administration Center in Venice, located at 4000 S. Tamiami Trail.
  • The utility payment drive-through bypass lane at North Port City Hall, located at 4970 City Hall Blvd.

Walk-in payments are not accepted at this time, the release points out.

Any county business tax that remains unpaid after Sept. 30 will be delinquent and additional money will be due, the release stresses.

Businesses in the Cities of Sarasota, Venice and North Port, and in the Town of Longboat Key, also may be required to pay an city business taxes, the release adds.
