Session to be held at Sarasota Garden Club in downtown Sarasota
On Monday, Nov. 14, the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) will host a discussion about universal design concepts and services to “enable the continuing safe enjoyment of our homes while we advance in age,” the organization’s members have announced.
“We inhabit one of the foremost centers in the country for engaged members of an emerging demographic” — those seeking optimal aging in place, a news release says. Greg Hall, a noted local architect who has become well-versed in age-friendly adaptations for housing, will be the guest speaker on this topic, the release adds.
Second, Andrew Georgiadis, an urban designer with another noted local practice, will discuss design strategies for the planning of Sarasota’s public bayfront “that apply both urban traditions and ecological contexts to complement each other,” the release continues.
A social mixer at 6:30 p.m. will precede the meeting at 7, the release points out.
Further, the news release notes, videos of CONA meetings are posted quickly to its website and archived. Among recent additions is the video of the workshop the organization conducted during the 20th annual state conference of neighborhoods, the release says.

The sessions are held at the Sarasota Garden Club, located at 1131 Boulevard of the Arts in Sarasota. That building is at the intersection of Tamiami Trail, south of the Municipal Auditorium. The parking area and the entrance are reached from Van Wezel Way.
