Event scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 10
This week, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s announced the return of its popular Digital Parenting 101 seminar, which is “aimed at equipping parents with essential knowledge about the impact of electronics and social media on their children,” the agency said in a news release.
“This timely event” will take place on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., the release noted. “As the back-to-school season approaches,” it added, “this seminar offers a valuable opportunity for parents to prepare themselves for the digital challenges ahead.”
The release explained that the course, which already has “received positive feedback from previous attendees,” will provide parents with knowledge about the various ways that children are targeted through different electronic devices, along with details about how to safely monitor youngsters, including tips from detectives who have experience working on such cases, “and basic electronic device tips and tricks to help parents stay informed.”
The release added, “One previous participant noted, ‘This seminar provided invaluable insights that helped me better communicate with my kids about the safe use of electronic devices and the internet.’ ”
Pre-registration is required for the event, the release pointed out. Interested participants may register or obtain more information by emailing digitalparents@sarasotasheriff.org.
“Join us in empowering parents with the tools needed to navigate the digital world alongside their children,” the release concluded.
