County’s immediate past manager of historical resources to discuss benefits of living in a home designated as historic
On Monday, Feb. 8, the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) will present a program on the topic Historic Preservation Adds Value To Your Home and Community, CONA has announced.
The guest speaker will be Lorrie Muldowney, the immediate past manager of historical resources for Sarasota County, “who will discuss the benefits of living in a home that is designated as historic and the value that is added to communities with designated structures,” a news release says.
“Many of our homes are crossing the threshold of fifty years that, typically, is required for historic designation,” the release notes.
It is untrue that limits are imposed on property owners following the awarding of historic designation status for their homes, the release points out. Such rumors “discourage pursuit of designations for structures that could enhance our communities greatly through higher property values, retaining the character of neighborhoods, and creating a sense of place with significant charm,” the release adds.
The meeting will begin with a social at 6:30 p.m., followed by the presentation and discussion at 7 p.m. CONA holds its sessions at the Sarasota Garden Club, located at 1131 Boulevard of the Arts in downtown Sarasota.
