On Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the Sarasota Police Department will host National Night Out 2017, America’s Night Out Against Crime, outside Sarasota Police Headquarters, the department has announced.

The Police Department is located at 2099 Adams Lane in Sarasota.

“This free family event is open to everyone,” a news release stresses. Residents from throughout Sarasota are invited to spend time with their neighbors and police officers, it adds.

Among the attractions will be K-9 and bomb squad robot demonstrations, displays of emergency vehicles, face painting, bounce houses, a junior SWAT challenge and displays by Mote Marine Aquarium, Selah Freedom, Crimestoppers, Teen Court, SPARCC, Peace River K-9 Search and Rescue Association, the Sarasota County Fire Department and the Florida Highway Patrol, the release notes. Food, beverages and “a special dessert table” provided by area neighborhoods also will be featured, the release says.

“National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community,” the release explains. “Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances,” the release points out.
