At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources (PRNR) staff will host a virtual public meeting about the planning status and potential protection efforts regarding historic structures at Vamo Drive Park, the county has announced.

Sarasota County Property Appraiser’s Office records show that one single-story house on the Vamo Drive Park site dates to 1925, while a second, two-level dwelling is even older. It was built in 1900, the Property Appraiser’s Office says.

County staff will provide a presentation with maps and graphics, a news release explains. Those planning to attend the session may submit questions and comments to PRNRmeetings@scgov.net prior to, or during, the meeting, the release adds.

To register for the virtual meeting, click on this link. Registration is required in advance of the event, the release points out.

Vamo Drive Park is located at 1690 Vamo Drive in Sarasota. Not only does it offer water access, the county website notes, but it also provides opportunities for birding and fishing, and dogs on leashes are welcome.
